NicChris Evans and Anna Faris 'make a great match on screen'...

Cornering the ‘funny girl’ market for the last decade thanks to the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise and films such as ‘Waiting’, ‘The House Bunny’ and ‘My Super Ex-Girlfriend’, Anna Faris now takes on the more traditional Rom-Com, and lands Captain America no less, in leading man Chris Evans.

‘What’s Your Number?’ is the story of Ally (Faris), a single lady with a fear of forever being on her own. After a magazine article backs up these fears, she has an epiphany- she will not sleep with another man until she’s sure he’s the one. Making a deal with her neighbour Colin (Chris Evans), the pair track down the twenty men she has, ahem, ‘taken to bed’, to see if she has overlooked Mr. Right. As the experiment delivers mixed results, she begins to realise that sometimes you can’t live life by the numbers.

It’s an undeniable truth that this is simply another attempt to tweak the formula of a rom-com just that little bit, only to deliver the same old chestnuts about living life and not chasing happiness with formulas and deadlines. The thing is, it’s just about likeable enough to get away with it. A combination of the leads’ charm (Faris and Evans genuinely seem suited on screen) and the frankly ingenious stroke of getting an array of famous faces to turn up as Ally’s exes (you will exclaim ‘is that…?’ more than a couple of times during the movie) mean the story keeps rolling along at an acceptable and enjoyable pace.

Faris made her name as the actress unafraid to get her hands dirty in the name of comedy, and she does so again to varying results. It’s not the clever role her talents have been crying out for, but she’s good enough at what she does to pull of some dumb comedy and still draw some laughs out of you. Likewise, Chris Evans is believable and occasionally quite funny as Colin, and as mentioned the pair make a great match on screen.

There have been far, far worse rom-coms in the last month, let alone this year, so the fact that ‘What’s Your Number?’ offers anything even slightly original is to be commended. A clever, ‘Legally Blonde’ type role is required for Faris to truly break out of the ‘disposable comedy’ niche she has created, but thanks largely to her this is a rare occasion that familiarity doesn’t breed contempt.

'Five' brings out stars to N.Y. premiere

Premiere of Lifetime's Five, an anthology of five short films exploring the impact of breast cancer on people's lives.

The female-led project put a spotlight on famous women taking the director's chair for each of the five shorts, which air as one movie on Lifetime on Oct. 10 (9 p.m. ET/PT). "I have to say Jennifer and Demi, watching them transform from actors to directors was really exciting to watch," said Tripplehorn, who plays an oncologist in all five shorts. "They are naturals, they should do it more often." Clarkson, who plays a feisty survivor named Mia, also raved about Aniston as a director. "I worked with a little someone named Martin Scorsese and a little someone named Woody Allen and let me tell you, Jennifer holds her own."

Aniston, in a low-cut black vest and slim trousers, literally stopped traffic downtown getting out of her SUV as boyfriend Justin Theroux quickly headed inside the venue. Meanwhile, Clarkson walked the carpet with a diamond-encrusted gold leaf necklace around her neck. "This is from Jennifer Aniston," she said with a smile.
Aniston's favorite part about being back in New York? "The people!" she said, as across the street a topless woman photographed the event. "That is brilliant," laughed Tripplehorn. "That's what it's all about right there. We're dealing with breasts tonight. I love New York!"

Guest list:Five directors Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, Patty Jenkins, Penelope Spheeris and Alicia Keys walked the red carpet, alongside stars Patricia Clarkson, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Lyndsy Fonseca.

Anna Faris Reveals Her Number of Sex Partners

Anna Faris candidly revealed that she bedded a total of five guys before marrying her husband, “Moneyball” star Chris Pratt, in 2009.

“I’m at five,” the star said at a screening of “What’s Your Number?” “Don’t you think five is kind of low? I’m 34!” During a pre-screening interview Tuesday night with Marie Claire editor Joanna Coles, Faris added, “I’m not a very good lover. I’m so nervous about my sexuality.”

In the film, Faris plays an unlucky-in-love woman who frets she’ll never find Mr. Right after learning the average woman sleeps with 10.5 men before finding “the one,” and she’s bordering on 20.

VOTE: Should You Ever Reveal Your Number?

“I think 20 is kind of low,” she told Coles. “Shouldn’t it be like 70?” Faris -- who was recently hailed by Tad Friend in the New Yorker as the future of female comedy -- also said that she doesn’t read reviews.

“I try not to read [them],” she said at the Joseph Urban Theatre. “The bad ones really cling. And I’m lucky that I’ve been part of a lot of poorly received movies, so I’m immune. ‘Scary Movie 4’ was a brilliant movie. I’m shocked it didn’t get nominated.”

Heidi Klum Flaunts New Fragrance "Shine"

Adding to her already impressive array of products, Heidi Klum unveiled her new fragrance Shine in West Hollywood yesterday (September 28).
The “Project Runway” starlet was all smiles as she hammed it up at the Mondrian Los Angeles to plug her signature scent.

Heidi explained that she put a lot of time and effort into creating Shine. “I worked with this amazing French nose who came from Paris many times to me in Los Angeles and New York when I was working there.

Basically we would just talk about all the things that I love in smells and different roots that I like. He comes over and has all the little sniffing strips. They all have numbers so we don’t mess anything up. You sniff, and sniff, and sniff, all day long.”

“I wanted something that is super feminine, that is very light. My husband definitely got an input in it because I do want to smell good for my husband. He doesn’t like it when I smell too strong. He still wants to smell me with a little bit of perfume.”

Go Novelty Chic Like Blair in the Season 5 Premiere

While we tend to associate novelty prints with kitschy upholstery and twee mid-century vintage clothing, Blair Leighton Meester)’s Season 5 premiere look made us want to reconsider our prejudices. After all, if the Queen B herself is willing to to take a walk on the wild side with this leafy gown  and wear to a royal gala, no less!  then maybe we just haven’t been looking in the right places.

We went digging for some similarly quirky prints to see if we could find something that Blair herself would wear  imagining she was on a budget  and we think we came up with a pretty exhaustive list. Remember to exercise caution when wearing one of these head-turning pieces and tone down the rest of the outfit accordingly.

Kelly Clarkson Tells Us About Man Bashing!

Kelly Clarkson was in in Australia this week to promote her new album Stronger, and Take 40 were lucky enough to sit down and chat with the gorgeous gal!

Kelly's latest single 'Mr. Know It All,' has been met with a huge response from Aussie fans and we were wondering what it was all about... has she dated a Mr. Know It All?

Kelly assured us that it's not about anyone specific, but more about general annoying people she might have worked with in the past.

"I've had a lot of man bashing songs..." she told Take 40, "(but) I'm actually very nice."

We also wanted to know whether she liked listening to her own music in those intimate moments... and her answer? Hmm not her own tunes exactly, but rather something heavily surprising!

Make sure you watch the full chat with Kelly below to hear what she said!

Kelly's new album Stronger is out on October 21st this year! Exciting!

How to Create a Braided Updo Yourself

All seen a glamorous celeb hit the runway with some cool, funky updo and said to ourselves, "Um, sure must be nice to have a personal stylist".  Well, after seeing so many braided looks lately, it suddenly dawned on us, we can braid, too!  Then we began to wonder how complicated some of these hairstyles really are.

We especially loved Blake Lively's braided look and were determined to recreate it.  Now by following a few steps, and exercising a little patience, you can join us in sporting your own super stylish 'do.

1. Make a center part and on each side section out tresses from the hairline to about the back of the ear. These sections should run vertically. Start on one side and begin to French braid on the diagonal, making sure not to draw in any hair from outside the section. (If you do, no worries. This look is supposed to be causal and a little messy anyway.) Once you run out of hair to incorporate, braid the ends regularly, secure with a hair elastic and repeat the process on the other side.

2. Ignore the two braids for a moment and backcomb the hair throughout the crown. This will help create volume and the added texture will help the updo hold better.

3. After backcombing, smooth the hair slightly. Pull everything back, except for the braids, and twist vertically from the nape of the neck to the center of the back of the head. Now, take a deep breathe and hold the twist in one hand while inserting bobby pins vertically, close to the scalp. Once this is done, ignore the loose ends of the twist for a moment.

4. Now you can get back to the braids.  Pick them up pull them back, across the top of the twist and just under the loose section. Wrap the braided ends together and pin tightly, making sure to attach the braids and the twist together. This will hide the braided hair ends and support the loose hair.

5. You'll have the option to leave the unsecured hair alone or curl it or pin it under or work it back into the twist. The sky's the limit. The only thing now is to mist your cool new 'do with some medium-hold hairspray.

Madonna's daughter Lourdes lords it over the catwalk for fashion line's first birthday

There's no mistaking where she gets her fashion sense from – even if a mini dress, high heels and flaming red lipstick are not every mother’s idea of what their 14-year-old should wear.

But then Lourdes Leon is no ordinary teenager and Madonna is certainly no ordinary mother.

The singer was happy to let her daughter take the spotlight and the hosting duties as they celebrated the first birthday of their Material Girl clothing line at Macy’s department store in New York.

Looking far older than her years – and remarkably like her mother – Lourdes, nicknamed Lola, attended the party and fashion show
with Kelly Osbourne, daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne.

She took over as the label’s ‘muse’ after Gossip Girl actress Taylor Momsen was sacked for comparing its style to that of a ‘highclass hooker’.

When it comes to clothes for warmer weather, it’s shorts for spring that are all the rage for the girls. “I’m like obsessed with them,” said Lourdes.

While Osbourne pointed out the accessories. 'The shoes - there’s a pair of nude heels that I’m really obsessed with.

'There’s so much stuff in it that’s so me and what I wear. There’s a leopard dress that I get to wear next that I’m excited about. I love prints,' she told People Magazine.

The pair also mentioned the affordability of the brand.

'There’s not many other companies besides Material Girl that do clothes at an affordable price that are high fashion and [are] what people see in the magazines and can emulate themselves without having to go and spend $1000 on a dress, she said.

Kelly has also admitted to taking 'so much of my style from Madonna in the Eighties'.

But will have to be very careful about what she says as the clothes and the ad campaigns are aimed at teenagers.

Hayden Panettiere, Stuart Weitzman, Jim Gold

Led by Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour, Fashion’s Night Out started three years ago in response to economic doldrums.

“The idea was to get the economy rolling,” said shoe designer Stuart Weitzman. “Now it’s become one of the giant charity events in America.”

At his Madison Avenue boutique Thursday night, Weitzman stood next to a display of the four shoes he designed with celebrities to raise money for ovarian cancer research.

Michelle Trachtenberg was wearing her contribution to the Young Hollywood Cares Collection, a pair of dark blue snakeskin platforms with studs on the heels.

“They’re perfect for Georgina,” she said, referring to her character on “Gossip Girl.”

Hayden Panettiere had climbed into a green Fendi jumpsuit, with black suede booties from the Cares collection.

“If I were wearing stilettos, I wouldn’t be standing here,” said the actress of “Heroes” and “Scream 4” fame. She’d been on her feet for an hour.

As for getting involved in a project that supports ovarian cancer research -- specifically the lab of Dr. Marsha A. Moses at the Folkman Institute in Boston -- “it makes you feel much better about indulging in guilty pleasures, like shopping,” she said.

The shoes retail for between $425 and $498. In the month of September, which is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, 100 percent of that amount will go to Dr. Moses.

Interview: Kanya King

The MOBO Awards will take place next Wednesday, and is packed with stars.
Kanya King (founder and CEO of the Awards) took the time to have an in-depth chat with us about the event.
Read the interview below to see her thoughts on Jessie J, Adele, urban music and how far the MOBO Awards have come over the last 16 years.

-How are preparations going for the show?
Oh my gosh, wow. It's crazy really. We've got so many people travelling to Glasgow, it's unbelievable. There seem to be hundreds and hundreds more people than there were in '09.
It feels like the city's getting ready for us. I've seen fantastic banners, things like that.
You might not have noticed this, but our Best Newcomer category is voted for via Facebook. We've got all of the ten nominees taking over Twitter. People are asking them if it's their first time going to Glasgow, who they'll be performing with. It's fantastic.

-Do you still get just as excited about it, after all these years?
Absolutely. We're always trying to do something different, and we take risks. You also want to exceed expectations. It's one of those things where yes, I'm still very much excited about it, but I never really let my hair down at the after show party!

-What prompted idea to move back to Glasgow this year?
You know what, I remember when we were there in '09 we had such a fantastic experience. It just felt really natural for us to want to return and build on the great relationship we have with the city.
I remember when I was on stage in '09, I just said "we'll be back!" I didn't know when at the time, but it's just unbelievable, a few years later.
There just seemed to be so much warmth to the artists on the show, and also the vibrancy about it. We just knew it wouldn't be long before the MOBO juggernaut would be hurtling back.

Eva Longoria Disses Tea Party

Eva Longoria was one of a plethora of high powered Hollywood big wigs at a fundraiser for Barack Obama on Monday, and she gushed about the opportunity to meet the President in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday night.

"It's a special privilege to meet our commander-in-chief, I'm a big Obama supporter no matter what he's been through -- he's been beaten up the past couple of years," Longoria gushed, enthused about the expensive event. "He's been very receptive for me, I'm a big advocate for Latino issues, and so he's been a big listener and he's done a lot of coalitions and round tables regarding what we want changed."

Longoria has been active politically for some time now, advocating on behalf of those with special needs with her Eva's Heroes foundation and her support this spring for a bill that would establish stricter guidelines for migrant child farmworkers.

She has history with Obama, too; he appointed her to the board that is working to create a new National Museum of the American Latino.

So, naturally, Longoria had some harsh words for his opponents.

"He keeps getting beat up lately because there's such an extremist movement, and for me, it's very dangerous because its not the character of America," Longoria continued. And though she didn't specify that the movement beating up Obama she was referring to was the Tea Party, she later scoffed when Kimmel mentioned them, saying they were "good for comedy."

Last week, Morgan Freeman made similar comments during an interview with Piers Morgan, saying that the Tea Party was extremist and racist.

Longoria also spoke about the last season of "Desperate Housewives," and although she says it's bittersweet, she's clearly ready to move on.

"It's been eight years, it's been a really long run, so we're all kind of okay," the star said.

Molly Sims' Honeymoon Hotness!

Molly Sims didn't waste any time slipping out of her wedding dress and into a tiny two-piece.

Not that we're complaining.

Just three days after tying the knot with movie producer Scott Stuber, the sexy star strutted her stuff while going for a beach stroll with her new hubby in Maui.

Newlywed Molly Sims and hubby Scott Stuber took a romantic stroll along a Maui beach Tuesday. The bikini-clad model-actress, 38, showed off her abs while covering up her lower body with a patterned sarong.

PIC: See Molly's gorgeous wedding dress

Sims and Stuber, a movie producer, tied the knot on Saturday at the Frank Cafaretta Vineyard in Napa Valley, Calif. in front of close family and friends.

A source tells Us Weekly, "the ceremony was underneath a grove of trees beside a small lake. There were flowers in bowls hanging from the trees and it was an incredible setting. The wedding started at 6 pm. Molly walked down the aisle with her dad across a huge lawn."

The happy couple, who dated for a year and a half before Stuber, 42, popped the question in May, were very relaxed and romantic at the altar while exchanging vows.

"During the ceremony, [Molly and Scott] laughed a lot and kissed a few times. It was very sweet," the source tells Us. "When they were pronounced husband and wife, Molly threw her hands up in the air and gave Scott a long kiss. Everyone was cheering and screaming for them. They looked ecstatic as they walked back up the aisle."

Sophia Savage confirms the quirky film

TOH!‘s Sophia Savage confirms the quirky film will have audiences chuckling and charmed, while THR writes: “Kittelsen’s performance is the linchpin of the film—her open, emotive face reveals as much about her thoughts as her poor impulse control.” Variety’s review calls it “a winning comedy that gets good-natured fun out of characters behaving quite badly,” adding that “a terrific Greek-chorus device restores good humor at the darkest moments: merrily incongruous entre’act performances of traditional American spirituals and hymns by an a cappella male quartet.”

The Norwegian Oscar Committee has submitted Anne Switsky’s feature directorial debut, Happy, Happy, to Best Foreign-Language Feature Film, after it took the top prize at Sundance. Happy, Happy‘s victory at Sundance marked the first time that a Norwegian film won fest’s World Cinema Grand Jury Prize. The film, which stars Agnes Kittelsen, Henrik Rafaelsen, Maibritt Saerens and Joachim Rafaelsen, tells of story two couples with complicated and semi-comedic relationships in neighboring homes. The meeting of the pairs causes each spouse to questions their relationships, but despite the drama, Happy, Happy manages to stay charming and true to its title.

Cee Lo Green joins 'X-rated Lady Gaga and a ghastly husband Liza Minnelli

Liza Minnelli cuts a tiny figure curled into an oversized chair in her riverside hotel suite. The fathomless black eyes are the only sign of animation in a face the colour of parchment.

She’s wearing silver, high-heeled pixie boots, black velvet trousers and a black hoodie with white skull-and-cross-bones appliquéd up each sleeve, the last thing, apparently, in current New York chic.

If she will forgive the observation, she looks like death warmed up. She smiles that crooked smile. ‘Listen honey, I’m not jet-lagged,’ she says, pulling on an ever-present Marlboro Lite. ‘I’m jet-thumped. I don’t know whether I’m coming or going.’

Ten days ago, she left New York with her lifelong friend Rock (son of Yul) Brynner for Vladivostok where he was tracing his lineage. ‘We’ve known each other since we were five. He’s the first boy I ever kissed.’

She then flew to London (via Korea) to perform at the White Rose Ball this Sunday in aid of the Holocaust Centre in Nottingham. ‘The more we educate young people about the terrible things that happened,’ says Liza, ‘the less likely they could ever happen again.’

At 65, the woman is unstoppable. Four marriages, two hip replacements, one new knee, a near-fatal bout of viral encephalitis, Liza has survived them all. ‘I’ve been down,’ she says, at one point, ‘but I’ve never been out.’

Unlike her mother Judy Garland, who died in London in 1969, awash with booze and pills, aged 47 — and about whom she is ‘bored, bored, bored’ of talking.

But while we’re — briefly — on the subject, she does let slip a sweet, rather revealing tale about Judy.

As a child, she’d wait in the wings at Garland’s concerts, a trembling cup of tea in her hand to deliver to her mother when the final curtain fell.

‘One day, I said to her: “Mama, why are you always so sad when you sing Over The Rainbow?” She looked at me. “It’s what they want,” she said. “Now let’s go get a hamburger.” Forget anything you’ve read. That’s how I remember her. That’s my reality.’

LeAnn Rimes Hopes 'Gentlemen' Will Steal the Spotlight

LeAnn Rimes knows that public scrutiny comes with the territory of her chosen profession. She just wishes all the fodder about her, whether good or bad, was actually about her profession! "Time to move on," the Grammy winner laments to The Boot, referring to the much-publicized drama surrounding the demise of her first marriage and start of her relationship with new husband, Eddie Cibrian. The 29-year-old songbird isn't avoiding blame for the controversial timing of her romance with the actor, she's just ready for her music to be more publicly prominent than her personal life.

'Lady and Gentlemen' may accomplish just that. That's the title of LeAnn's brand-new album, out today (Sept. 27), mostly comprised of tunes originally recorded by men -- some of the greatest men in country music history, including George Jones, Merle Haggard and Kris Kristofferson -- to whom she has looked up throughout her own 15-year career. The cover songs span from the 1946 classic, 'Sixteen Tons,' to 1989's 'When I Call Your Name,' by the project's co-producer, Vince Gill. LeAnn also reflects her own personality with two very different original tracks: the sassy, clever 'Crazy Women,' and the thought-provoking 'Give.'

The Boot chats with LeAnn about finding courage to put her own spin on some of the most beloved country songs of all time. The svelte star also gets very candid with us about her annoyance with the tabloids shifting from her philandering to her physique. And we get to the bottom of all those 'Playboy' rumors.

Jessica Szohr says learning guitar is the most difficult thing

The actress had to take up the instrument for one of her roles. She’s always loved music so looked forward to strumming the strings – before she realised how tough she’d find mastering it.

“I love seeing live bands with my friends – I like everything from classic to country to rock. The last album I downloaded was The Strokes. I’m learning the guitar for my next role and it’s given me a new respect for musicians as it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” she laughed.

Jessica has appeared in several TV shows and movies but is best known for her portrayal of Vanessa Abrams on Gossip Girl.

She still can’t believe she ever landed the part, particularly as it came about in such an unexpected way.

“I had just thrown on some denim shorts, a T-shirt and flip-flops [to go to my friend’s barbeque] and had my dog with me. It was a nice, chilled, day, but my agent phoned the next day and asked if I’d been at a BBQ, as an executive producer from Gossip Girl had called and wanted to know more about me,” she recalled to InStyle. “The next think I knew I was on my way to Warner Bros. in New York to start filming.”

Well known for her stunning features and edgy fashion style, Leighton frequently makes waves in the fashion industry with her enviable wardrobe.

However, Leighton didn't know what to expect when Vera first caught her attention during a fashion show.

"The next day, I got a call asking if I wanted to represent her new fragrance."

The Lovestruck commercial stars Leighton in a modern day fairy tale. The Gossip Girl star is shown waiting for her handsome suitor; model Tommy Dunn, on a New York fire escape wearing a gorgeous, deep red, couture gown.

Katy Perry looks relaxed in Brazil

She may be rehearsing for one of the biggest performances of her career, but it seems that Katy Perry doesn't need to drink alcohol to calm her nerves.

The 26-year-old pop star touched down in Rio de Janeiro yesterday ahead of her appearance at the Rock N' Rio Music Festival and, after rehearsing, headed out to dinner with a group of friends.

The I kissed a Girl singer wore a butterfly print maxi dress with halterneck straps and purple jewelled sandles for her night out at the Porcao restaurant in Brazil.

Still sporting her blonde and pink locks, the star also wore a butterfly in her hair and a pair of gold chandelier earrings.

After laughing with friends over dinner, Katy left the restaurant and happily posed for photographs with waiting fans before making her way to a waiting car.

The star was probably shattered after her flight, and day of rehearsals.

The legendary festival in Rio de Janeiro, which is the biggest in the world, often has an attendance rate in the hundreds of thousands so Katy obviously wants to nail her performance.

The star paid tribute to another singer, Portuguese Brazilian-born Carmen Miranda, by arriving at the airport wearing a mask that resembled the famous samba singer - who was famous for wearing a fruit hat on her head.

Lindsay Lohan Got Kicked Out of the Marc Jacobs Party Last Week

Lindsay Lohan was not welcome at Marc Jacobs' fashion show after party last week, but that didn't mean she actually stayed home and forgot about it. Lohan arrived at the Dream Hotel Downtown on Thursday evening, and door staff told her she wasn't getting it. Unhappy with their answer, LiLo called up her friend and owner of the hotel, Vikram Chatwal, who came and personally escorted her into the party.

But not long after sitting down in a booth near Dakota Fanning, security came and escorted Ms. Lohan right back on out of the party.

Lohan eventually walked over to the Electric Room, another bar in the hotel, and kept to herself. Also present at the Electric Room that evening were Rachel Zoe, Mick Jagger, and Vladimir Doronin.

Blake covers InStyle magazine October 2011, the Australian edition. Inside, the lovely 'Green Lantern' actress dishes on fashion, being called a style icon, her 'Gossip Girl' outfits, movies and men.

On her love of fashion, Blake told InStyle that it didn't spark while working on 'Gossip Girl'. "No, I inherited it from my mother Elaine. My mum used to be a model and actress, and always enjoyed sewing my clothes herself when I was a kid. It was a ritual for us to roam vintage stores once a week. She inspired me to dress myself more unconventionally and to mix different styles. Gossip Girl, of course, gave me the chance to develop my passion even further. In the show I play the rich New York It-girl, who always wears the latest designer fashion. Every day I'll find new amazing pieces by the best designers in the world in my set closet. Quite a paradise! I'm getting paid to wear fancy dresses in front of the camera. What else would I want?," Lively says.

Parker persuades fashion guru not to sign up for ‘Sex And The City’ prequel

London: Sarah Jessica Parker is trying to persuade the ‘Sex and the City’ fashion guru not to boycott a forthcoming prequel.

The 46-year-old actress has urged costume designer Patricia Field to stay away from the new series ‘The Carrie Diaries’, as it is about life of Parker’s character in ‘Sex and the City’, Carrie Bradshaw, as a teenager and will be made by ‘Gossip Girl’ producers Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz.

“Sarah’s 13-year reign as Carrie Bradshaw has come to an end and she hasn’t taken it lying down,” the Daily Mail quoted a source as telling New York Fashion Week.

“She and Pat created Carrie’s fashionista status, so Sarah is putting the pressure on Patricia to side with her,” the source added.

Parker herself backed out of the project when it was signed to American network CW, a rival of HBO, which made the original series.

So will you be Serena or Blair?

Fans of Gossip Girl know that the fashion on screen is as captivating as the plotlines.

So news today that there will be a collection inspired by lead characters Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf feels like a natural development.

The line is a collaboration between Warner Bros and Romeo & Juliet Couture, a favourite with Rachel Bilson and Rihanna.

Maryellen Zarakas, of Warner Bros Consumer Products, told how Gossip Girl was the 'perfect design Muse'.

She told WWD: Gossip Girl as the inspiration for a fashion line makes for the perfect design muse because there’s an endless supply of inspiration.

'It wasn’t a decision about whether or not to pursue this collection, it was about finding the right partner.'

She explained that the range would expand further for its second season, with the launch of accessories and handbags for spring.

'We’re still working out the line plan for the future,' she added. 'But we have a long-term relationship planned that will see the line expand into other product categories.'

The launch of the fashion line coincides with the premiere of season five of Gossip Girl, which begins on the CW network on September 26.

Catherine's style a winner, but Snooki a fashion disaster

People magazine has released its list of 10 Best Dressed, with Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge the only non-American to make the list.

Gossip Girl star Blake Lively topped the list of women chosen for "taking fashion up a notch this year".

Also deemed worthy for their fashion sense were movie stars Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Hudson, Jessica Alba, Mila Kunis and singer Jennifer Lopez.

While Catherine, formerly Kate Middleton, has been touted as a fashion star by many since her marriage to Prince William earlier this year, some of that shine may be wearing off.

In recent weeks many fashion luminaries have questioned Catherine's status as a trendsetter, calling her instead a "trend-follower".

Gregg Andrews, a fashion director at leading US department store chain Nordstrom said she wouldn't be looked at twice if she wasn't a royal.

"She is stylish, but she's not setting trends, she's following trends," Andrews told the Daily Mail.

"If you take Kate out of the royal family, put her on a street in New York, you wouldn't look at her twice. She's a beautiful woman, but she blends into a crowd."

Nevertheless her elegant style does appeal to some designers wanting to cater to a more conservative consumer mindset, with her "classically patrician look".

Leighton Meester goes Mad Men in McQueen

What we love about Leighton Meester is her ability to turn her fashion hand to styling the latest trends.

The Gossip Girl was snapped at The Oranges premiere during the Toronto International Film Festival at the weekend wearing this gorgeous white Broiderie Anglaise shirt and skirt from Alexander McQueen’s resort 2012 collection.

And did she stop there with the McQueen? Hell no. The actress rocked the label head-to-toe with a Cigar belt, Bone & Cigar skull clutch and Ocelot print curved heels (so of the moment).

Overall, we think this sophisticated, Mad Men-esque look works well for Leighton; we love the small-volume Sixties ‘do and subtle brown smoky eye (though we are finding the colour palette a little too matchy).

But we want to know what you think: is Leighton Sixties-sophis or simply too straight?

Cyndi Lauper Stumbles Through National Anthem

Cyndi Lauper stumbled through her rendition of the national anthem on Saturday (10.11.2011) after mistakenly singing the wrong lyrics.

The 58-year-old singer was performing Star Spangled banner at the U.S. Open on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the attacks when she sang "O'er the ramparts we watched as our flag was still streaming" rather than O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming." The star later apologised on Twitter saying that the occasion got to her "Whew, I just did the anthem for the US open. It was an awesome experience. I got choked up in the middle remembering 9/11..The moon shone done on us and I tried to say a prayer at the same time.. I hope I didn't mess up too bad. I wanted it to be comforting. " This is not the first time a singer has botched the national anthem, Christina Aguilera made the exact same mistaken earlier this year at the Super Bowl.

Lauper was born in New York City and released her debut album in 1983, entitled She's So Unusual and became the first female singer to have four top-five singles from the same album. She has since released a further ten albums selling 30 million records worldwide. As well as a music career she has also appeared in several movies and television series' including 30 Rock and Gossip Girl.

Some Celebs Are Skipping The Set For Front Row At Fashion Week

Fashion Week draws celebs from around the world to New York City for the shows, parties and photo opportunities, but there are plenty of stars already in NYC working. Here's a look at who might be taking a break from filming (and who already has) to stop by the runway this week:

Christina Ricci has already traded time on the set filming her new ABC series, Pan Am, for the front row at the QVC show.

Lea Michele was spotted at Fashion's Night Out on Thursday before getting back to the set of her upcoming movie New Year's Eve, which was filming in Yonkers, NY over the weekend.

Law and Order: SVU is a staple in the New York City filming scene and since it's star, Mariska Hargitay, is already in the city, she always seems to make her way to at least a couple shows during Fashion Week.

Considering fashion is such an important part of the TV series Gossip Girl, it's no surprise that several of the show's stars have already made appearances at Fashion Week events, including Leighton Meester, Matthew Settle, Kelly Rutherford, Ed Westwick, and Penn Badgley.

Who else should you be on the look out for? The Good Wife's Julianna Marguiles, Julianne Moore, who is currently filming What Maisie Knew, Debra Messing who is in town filming the TV show Smash, Sharon Stone who is working on Gods Behaving Badly around the city, and Kirsten Dunst who's next movie Bachelorette is also shooting in New York.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week comes to Jeddah

As Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week officially launches its first day of fashion shows and hosts an evening of fashion icons and celebrities attending “Fashion Night Out,” Saudi fashionistas will no doubt congregate online, checking Twitter and Facebook accounts to see who went where, and even more importantly, who wore what.

However, just because you’re stuck wearing sun-absorbing black in 38-degree weather doesn’t mean you have to live vicariously through vogue.com. Thankfully, Staff Sale is here to give us our NYC fashion fix!

Located in Jeddah’s Le Mall on Tahliah Street, the concept of the store is brand new to the Kingdom. Staff Sale is a pop-up, which means the retail space is only temporary. It involves “popping-up” one day and then closing shortly thereafter. The idea is as trendy as the clothes the store sells.

Events, such as Staff Sale’s “Vintage Vantage,” and “Arabian Nights,” which included celebrities, such as TV personality Muna Abusulayman and poetess May Kutbi, were great successes and got Jeddah’s fashionistas together for desperately needed post-iftar shopping binges.

Sadly, Monday Sept. 12 marks its last event before the store closes. BACK TO STYLE is a unique fashion event that brings together Jeddah’s fashionistas for an evening of fashion, beauty and hopefully, some juicy gossip! A competition that invites ladies to use the store’s racks as their very own personal closet, the event marks the departure of a month of thobes and kaftans! If that wasn’t incentive enough, the person with the best make-over at the end of the night gets to keep what she’s wearing for free! Destination Jeddah is bringing together Jeddah’s fashion-forward youth, as well as a panel of fashion editors and bloggers to advise customers on new trends, while EVE Haute Couture and Spa’s resident make-up artist and hair stylist give demos and tips on how to manage this season’s beauty trends — as well as September hair frizz!

Jessica Simpson is Considering Getting a Breast Reduction

Over the years, Jessica Simpson's breasts have gotten her just as much press as her music career has. Her dad has even talked about them, and she's shown them off in a million and one low-cut dresses. But the rumors now are that Jessica is considering getting a breast reduction before she gets married to fiance Eric Johnson.

Jessica is said to be considering the reduction because she doesn't want to look so top-heavy n her wedding photos. A source says:

"She thinks if she downsizes her breasts, she will look smaller. She's never loved having a huge chest."

Jess is also determined to drop some pounds before the big day as well. She said:

Revisiting the sixties

To give credit where it is due, the local fashion scene was quite pre-emptive with Feeha Jamshed trying to bring the gharara back into main stream fashion with her cotton printed variant of this regal classic and a few futuristic spacey pieces last year at the PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2. And if one considers space fashion as a hallmark of the 60s, then Adnan Pardesy’s Guggenheim collection was it, while Ammar Belal’s Corporate Resort wear for women with pencil and miniskirts, dresses, high-waist pants and skinny ties were a more obvious interpretation.

The international fashion gurus soon followed — inspired by January Jones and the rest of “Mad Men’s” uber-stylish cast — when Miuccia Prada launched the Autumn Winter 2010 collection hailing the era of bouffant hair and pill-box hats (heavily patronised and gracefully adorned by the uber-chic Jackie Kennedy). The Prada collection had a trickle down effect which was observed recently at the London and Milan fashion weeks with labels like Jean Paul Gautier, Calvin Klein, Jil Sander, Versace, and Victoria Beckham getting into the 60s grove.

The 60s is an era of interesting juxtaposition and contradiction: fitted miniskirts coexist with sack-like shift dresses and full skirts, and this was perhaps the only period where fashion hadn’t courted seriously in a while. What’s more, the mass retail brand Banana Republic called shot gun on the trend and recently launched a capsule collection of 65 pieces with the “Mad Men” logo. When a look transcends from the screen to the ramp to retail, you know it’s made its way into popular culture and will soon scurry its way into your closet as well. The Banana Republic collection has been designed for both genders under the creative guidance of “Mad Men” costume designer Janie Bryant.

With the fashion season kicking off next month (when the country witnesses a swing of fashion weeks launched from every city, counsel and media body), would the 60s, a period considered to be one of immense prosperity and progressive thought in Pakistan make its presence on the ramps? A brand like Republic, already a strong and dependable label for the style-savvy male, is sure to benefit. But let’s see who successfully picks up on the trend in a more eastern aesthetic. Designer Zahra Shahjahan, who pleasantly surprised us all by showcasing an entire collection of shift dresses-cum-kameezes in phulkari with churidars when the entire industry obsessed over longer lengths, may just offer something new this season.

Alexander Wang designs T Shirt for Starbuck

Three top fashion designers have created limited edition t shirts for coffee house chain Starbucks.

New York Fashion designer Alexander Wang, is among the three that have put their names to the t-shirts that have received mixed reviews.

The plain white t-shirt simply features a well positioned spill of coffee on the right shoulder which drips into the signature Starbuck siren logo.

The question is would you pay $85 for one?

The other minimalist designs by Billy Reid and Sophie Theallet are part of Starbucks' support for the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the Vogue Fashion Fund, which awards grants to new fashion designers in the US.

All three designers were picked to make the t shirts as past winnerd of the award and they will appear on the starbucks website to purchase for a limited time.

Thelleat's t shirt is inspired by the global presence of the coffee giant with a jigsaw designed map across the front while Reid's simply featured the same siren logo on the right shoulder on a worn effect black t shirt.

Though we don't doubt we'll see plenty of celebs sporting the new shirt, we can think of much more fashion inspired pieces to spend the money on.Starbucks anyone?

Tips for fashion interns...

As season Four of the hit US show comes out on DVD, we take a look at two of the programmes best loved characters and their determination and grit to make it in one of the most notoriously unforgiving industries in the world: Fashion journalism.
Finding an internship, let alone a job writing about fashion is one of the most difficult things to achieve and so when Blair (Leighton Meester) and Dan (Penn Badgely) get the opportunity to intern at W-Magazine they are prepared to do just about anything to stand out from the crowd.
If you put in the work and do it right, internships can prove to be a valuable experience, where you not only develop your confidence skills, but better your knowledge and fill up your contacts book.
And you can achieve all this even if you don't end up with the job at the end of it.
If you're lucky like Blair and Dan then interning at a fashion magazine can open your eyes to the glamorous world that only designers and priviledged journalists and editors get to step into.

The determined duo manage to attend events, write for their magazines blog and even have contact time with their editor-in-chief. And while you may think that these are rare opportunities, if you prove yourself, put yourself forward and don't be afraid to ask for something, then you never know what you may be asked to do.
It wouldn't be a hit drama if there wasn't a hefty dose of backstabbing, sabotage and betrayl thrown into the mix, but do your job properly and try not to step on anyones toes, then you're likely to glide through your internship with nothing but a glowing report at the end of it.
There maybe a sterotypical coffee or copier run every so often, but even the top had to start at the bottom. The best advice we can give is to suck it up and learn a little from each day on the job...
